Ian Plant

Set to begin his second go-around as an assistant coach for UW-Stevens Point, Ian Plant looks to bring his experience as a professional soccer player to the Pointers as an assistant coach.

Plant’s experience dates back to the early 1990’s where he played three seasons with the Hull City AFC as a professional. Short after, he continued to play semi-professionally with North Ferribly United and Brigg Town. Once his soccer playing days were over, he spent one season as the placekicker for the Pointer football team in 1999.

After college, Plant focused on his coaching career, which began in 2001 here at UWSP. He was a student assistant for the women’s soccer team until 2003. He then became the head coach at Beckfoot School U-16 team from 2004-’06, and 2009. From 2007-2008, Plant became the head coach at Leeds University.

Plant has a National Certificate in Leisure Studies from Grimsby Collge that he obtained in 1995. He then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical and Health Education at UWSP in 2004.
