Bringing extensive head coaching experience to the coaching staff, Derek Bell begins his second season with the Pointers after six successful seasons as the boys’ coach at Stevens Point Area Senior High School.
Bell led the Panthers to two Wisconsin Valley Conference titles and a sectional final appearance in his final season in 2006. He also worked four seasons as an assistant with Stevens Point’s girls’ soccer team, including the Panthers’ state tournament squad in 2002.
Prior to coming to Stevens Point, he coached with the Norman Celtic and Moore Milan select clubs in Oklahoma for three seasons. In Stevens Point, he runs player development programs for local soccer players and coaches several youth club teams. Bell holds a Premier Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Bell is on the Wisconsin Olympic Development program coaching staff, primarily leading Central Wisconsin district trainings and attending regional camps as a state staff coach and working with the Centers for Excellence program. He coached the North squad in the 2005 Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Masonic Foundation senior all-star game and serves on the WSCA’s board.
Bell played four seasons at Knox College (Ill.) and was an all-conference selection as a senior. He works full-time as the administrative team leader for the National Wellness Institute and currently serves as the secretary for the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association.
