Krueger enters his ninth year as the head coach of the UWSP men's hockey program in 2025-26. With Krueger at the helm, the Pointers have won the WIAC regular season title six times. He holds a career record of 156-41-18, including a 75-14-9 record in WIAC games.
Krueger coached Fletcher Anderson to AHCA All-America first team honors in 2024-25. Anderson earned his third-straight WIAC Player of the Year honor and was one of four All-WIAC first-team selections on the season under Krueger. His team was ranked in the USCHO top-15 all season long for the second-consecutive year.
In 2023-24, Krueger managed his team to their 10th-straight WIAC Tournament Championship game and sixth regular season title. He was tabbed with his third WIAC Coach of the Year honor along with coaching Anderson to his second-straight WIAC Co-Player of the Year award. Senior Mick Heneghan and Anderson were honored as AHCA/CCM All-Americans.
The 2022-23 season saw Krueger lead UWSP to both the WIAC regular season and WIAC Tournament championships. He also surpassed the 100-win plateau, the fourth coach in program history with at least 100 victories. His team reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals after advancing in the opening round with a four-overtime win over Augsburg, the longest game in program history. He also coached a third-straight WIAC Player of the Year in Anderson.
Krueger guided the Pointers to their eighth-straight WIAC Championship game in the 2021-22 season and was named WIAC Coach of the Year. The Pointers won the WIAC regular season for the fourth time in six years led by WIAC Player of the Year Jordan Fader, one of five All-WIAC picks in 2022.
In the 2020-21 season, Krueger guided his Pointers to the seventh-straight WIAC Championship game. His team was led by WIAC Player of the Year Zach Zech, one of four All-WIAC picks in 2021.
In 2018-19, he guided the Pointers to the first unbeaten season in Division III history and the sixth national championship in program history. Krueger was honored with the Edward Jeremiah Award as National Coach of the Year by the American Hockey Coaches Association and the USCHO.com National Coach of the Year.
His 2018-19 Pointers set a program record with a 31-game unbeaten streak, had the highest winning percentage (.968) and allowed the fewest goals (46). He guided sophomore goaltender Connor Ryckman to the WIAC Player of the Year honor, one of two AHCA/CCM All-Americans (Tanner Karty). His Pointers went 8-0-0 in WIAC play and won the WIAC Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons.
He was hired as permanent head coach on May 31, 2018. He served as interim head coach for the 2017-18 season and led the Pointers to the Frozen Four. UWSP won the regular season WIAC title with an undefeated 6-0-2 record and he led the Pointers to an NCAA Tournament road win at Adrian in the second round to advance to Lake Placid.
Under Krueger’s tutelage, junior Tanner Karty earned WIAC Player of the Year honors and finished as the national leader in game-winning goals. Karty and goaltender Max Milosek earned AHCA/CCM All-American honors in 2018 under Krueger.
He spent the previous three seasons on the staff of former head coach Chris Brooks, most recently as associate head coach. He was a pivotal part of the Pointers’ three-year run to the National Championship game in 2014, 2015 and 2016. From behind the bench, Krueger helped UWSP win its first WIAC Tournament title and fifth National Championship in 2016.
Prior to joining the coaching staff, Krueger was a four-year member of the Pointers hockey team. He skated in 79 games as a Pointer with two goals, 15 assists and a plus/minus of +34 for his career. He captained the 2014 team that reached the NCAA title game.
Krueger graduated from UWSP in 2014 with a bachelor of science degree in health promotion and wellness. A Stevens Point native, Krueger and his wife, Hannah, currently reside in Plover with their children, Ryder and Cameron.
