Marty Costello is in his second season at UW-Stevens Point in 2015 as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach, while also serving as the team's recruiting coordinator.
In his first season at UWSP, the Pointers averaged 114.8 rushing yards per game and their 14 rushing touchdowns were the third-most in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). UW-Stevens Point also ranked third in the conference in scoring offense (25.2 ppg).

Costello came to UWSP after 4 seasons at Valley City State, his last three seasons as offensive coordinator. He also served as the team's strength coach, academic coordinator and camp coordinator. In Costello’s first season with the Vikings he was co-offensive coordinator and QB coach. In 2011, he was promoted to offensive coordinator and coached the offensive line.
With Costello at the helm of the offense, VCSU amassed a 21-10 record and won 3 consecutive conference championships over the past three seasons. In 2011, wide receiver LeTheo Proctor had a huge year in Costello's offense and earned the DAC's Most Valuable Player award and the Offensive MVP award of the A.I.I.  In 2012, quarterback Tommy Zinke was named the A.I.I. Most Valuable Senior under Costello's leadership, and tight end Ken Eliacin was named a Third Team All-American. The 2013 season saw more players collect individual awards, as running back Derek Elliott was the North Star Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Year. Elliott broke numerous career and season rushing and scoring records and led the nation in rushing yards per game. Elliott was selected as a First Team All-American and offensive lineman George Trujillo was an Honorable Mention All-American.Â
Prior to coming to Valley City, Costello spent three years coaching the offensive line at Truman State University (Mo.). During his time at Truman, Costello was also the team's strength coach and equipment manager.
Coach Costello played college football for Bemidji State (Minn.) from 1995 until a career-ending injury in 1998. He then moved to the coaching side of football, serving as student-assistant offensive line coach at Bemidji the next two years.
In the 2000 season, Costello was named offensive line coach at Univ. of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Returning back to Bemidji to complete his graduate work, Costello served as the team's running backs coach and strength coordinator. After graduating with his masters degree, Costello moved to Dana College (Neb.) and was the team's offensive line coach, run game coordinator and the school's strength and conditioning coordinator.
In 2005, Costello moved to Culver-Stockton (Mo.) where he was the Wildcats offensive coordinator for two years. Costello spent the first few months of 2007 at Lindenwood (Mo.) University as the team's offensive line coach before taking a job at Truman State.
Costello is now reunited with Offensive Coordinator Aaron Vlcko, whom he worked with at BSU and Truman State.Â
Marty is married to Jenny (Bartz) Costello.
