STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Josh Gilroy (Merton, Wis./Arrowhead) hit a walk-off three-run home run, the third home run in the bottom of the ninth, as the UW-Stevens Point baseball team (19-19, 11-15) rallied the sweep UW-Platteville (18-19, 9-17) on Friday. The Pointers got a 10-0 run-rule win in game one before the 10-9 comeback win in game two.

Gilroy's home run was the sixth on the day for the Pointers. Braylen Nystrom (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH), Drew Mistele (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo), Nick Argersinger (Bristol, Wis./Westosha Central), Kamden Oliver (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) and Connor Olson (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) also hit a home run on the day.

Tommy Drohner (Plover, Wis./SPASH), Oliver, Nystrom and Mistele all collected three hits on the day. Mistele led the way with four RBI. Oliver, Nystrom and Gilroy had three RBI each.

Kenny Schultz (Plover, Wis./SPASH) dominated on the mound in game one. He threw a complete game four-hit shutout.

Game 1 – UWSP 10, UWP 0 (7 inn.)
Nystrom hit a solo home run on the second pitch of the second inning to break the scoreless tie. Mistele drew a walk and Tino Ramirez (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) followed with a bunt single. With two away, Jackson Adams (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) drew a walk to load the bases. Drohner hit a two-run single. A wild pitch allowed another run to score. Oliver reached on an infield single as UWSP went up, 5-0.

Nystrom singled with two outs in the fifth. Mistele hit an 0-2 pitch out to left-center as the lead grew to 7-0.

Oliver started the seventh with a double. Olson and Nystrom each coaxed a walk to load the bases. Another wild pitch plated one run. Mistele then singled down the left field line as UWSP walked off with a 10-0 win.

Schultz tossed all 7.0 innings and struck out four. He walked just one and face three batters more than the minimum as the Pioneers did not get a runner into scoring position in the game.

Game 2 – UWSP 10, UWP 9
An error, a walk and a home run put UWSP at a 3-0 deficit in the first inning. UWP plated three more in the third on three hits and a walk. The Pioneers made it 7-0 with a run in the fifth.

Adams and Drohner singled with one down in the fifth. Oliver was hit by a pitch and Olson hit a sac fly to get the Pointers on the board. Nystrom singled to get UWSP within 7-2.

Argersinger launched a leadoff home run in the sixth. Ramirez singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and to third on a passed ball. A UWP error allowed him to score to make it 7-4.

The Pioneers tacked on two runs in the ninth on two hits, a walk and a sac fly.

Drohner started the bottom of the ninth with a single. Oliver and Olson hit back-to-back home runs as UWSP got within 9-7. Nystrom was hit by a pitch. The Pioneers got the next two outs and then Ramirez was hit by a pitch. That brought up pinch hitter Gilroy and he blasted the second pitch he saw out to left-center for the walk-off win.
