LA CROSSE, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (7-3, 1-1) traveled to UW-La Crosse (8-3, 2-2) for the second conference game of the season, falling to a fast-paced Eagles squad- 18-3.
UWL netted five goals before
Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) found
Josie Voigt (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) at 5:07 in the first quarter for a player-up goal. The Eagles added two more goals to extend their lead to 7-2 to end the quarter.
The Eagles extended their lead in the second quarter, netting five goals.
Addison Novack (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) scored the Pointers' second goal at 6:10, unassisted.
The Pointers' defense limited the Eagles to two goals in the third quarter.
Voigt recorded her second goal of the evening at 13:13 to start the final quarter. UWL finished out the game with four additional goals.
The Pointers secured seven draw controls in the loss.
Barrie Bahr (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) led the team with three,
Paige Allen (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove),
Elysia Pitts (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port), Van Dyke and
Rowan Dunn (Janesville, Wis./Joseph A. Craig) each secured one.
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal, facing 40 shots while saving nine in 60 minutes of play.
The Pointers remain on the road, heading to St. Paul, Minn. to square off with Hamline on Saturday (Apr. 11). Opening draw is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
