WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team (7-11, 1-7) earned its first conference win of the year on Sunday over UW-Oshkosh (8-11, 4-4). The Pointers were unable to come back in the resumption of Friday's second game falling, 10-5. In the first full game on Sunday, UWSP got a 12-3 win. In the series finale, the Pointers fell, 10-0, in eight innings.
 
Friday Game 2 – UWSP 5, UWO 10
The Titans got on the board with a run in the first. The Pointers got a two-out walk from Tommy Drohner (Plover, Wis./SPASH) in the second. Nick Argersinger (Bristol, Wis./Westosha Central) followed with a single to put runners on the corners. A double steal attempt allowed the Pointers to tie the game at 1-1.
 
UWO put up four runs on five hits in the bottom of the second to put UWSP in a 5-1 hole. The Titans added three runs in the fourth to make it 8-1.
 
Drohner drew a walk to start the fifth. Argersinger followed with a triple to plate him as UWSP got within 8-2.
 
In the sixth, Cooper Brown (Appleton, Wis./West) singled with one away. Two batters later, Braylen Nystrom (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) belted a home run to make it 9-4 before the game was halted.
 
After the game resumed today, Tino Ramirez (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) hit a solo home run in the eighth as UWSP made it 9-5. UWO got the run back in the bottom of the frame to complete the scoring.
 
Josh Steger (Lomira, Wis./Lomira) struck out two in 1.0 innings. Bryce Ehr (Plover, Wis./SPASH) had four strikeouts in 2.0 IP. JT Hockers (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) struck out two over 3.0 innings. Owen Mansavage (Plover, Wis./SPASH) had a strikeout in his collegiate debut.
 
Game 1 – UWSP 12, UWO 3
Nystrom hit a double to start the second inning. Two batters later, Drew Mistele (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) hit a home run to give UWSP a 2-0 lead.
 
Ramirez singled with two outs in the third. Nystrom followed with a triple. Argersinger singled to drive in another. Mistele clubbed his second home run of the game to put UWSP in front, 6-0.
 
Argersinger doubled to start the sixth. Mistele singled to drive him home. Two batters later, Drohner singled to give the Pointers an 8-0 lead.
 
UWO got a single tally in the sixth and two in the seventh to get to 8-3.
 
Argersinger was hit by a pitch to start the eighth. With two down, Drohner was also hit by a pitch. Kamden Oliver (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) singled to plate one run. Connor Olson (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) drew a walk to load the bases. Brown cleared the bases with a single to put the Pointers in front, 12-3.
 
Steven Wintheiser (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) got the win with 6.0 strong innings. He struck out four. Jaycob Dittmer (Denmark, Wis./Denmark) and Kaeden Wagenaar (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) each had a strikeout in relief.
 
Game 2 – UWSP 0, UWO 10 (8 inn.)
UWO got two runs with two outs in the bottom of the first. Nystrom doubled with one out in the second. Argersinger singled to put two in scoring position, but UWSP was unable to get a run home.
 
The Pointers got a two-out single from Nystrom in the fourth. Mistele singled to lead off the fifth. In the sixth, Olson was hit by a pitch. Argersinger hit a one-out single in the seventh and UWSP was not able to scoring in any of those innings.
 
UWO scored three in the fifth and twice in the sixth. In the eighth, the Titans put up three runs to walk-off with the run-rule win.
 
Easton Zempel (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) and Ethan Winkler (Appleton, Wis./East) had two strikeouts each over the first 5.0 innings. Ben Janowski (Wauwatosa, Wis./West), Keltin Opper (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) and Peyton Soule (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) each had one strikeout each in relief.
 
The Pointers travel to UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday (Apr. 8) for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
