WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team (6-9, 0-5) dropped the series opener against UW-Oshkosh (6-10, 2-3) by a 3-1 final. Game two was suspended in the sixth inning and will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Connor Olson (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) had the lone RBI and run scored with a solo home run.
Tommy Drohner (Plover, Wis./SPASH) and
Nick Argersinger (Bristol, Wis./Westosha Central) had two hits each.
Cooper Brown (Appleton, Wis./West) drew a walk in the first and singled in the fourth, but was stranded in both innings.
UWO got on the board in the fourth with a run off two hits and a pair of sacrifice bunts.
Argersinger singled in the fifth and
Kamden Oliver (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) singled to start the sixth. Again, UWSP was left empty-handed in both frames.
The Titans tacked on two more runs in the sixth off three hits and a pair of walks to take a 3-0 lead.
Drohner singled to start the seventh. Argersinger followed with a walk, but UWSP couldn't muster a run-scoring rally.
Olson homered to begin the eighth to get UWSP on the board. In the ninth, Drohner and Argersinger hit consecutive singles, but the Pointers could not get either home in an attempt to tie the game.
Game two of the series, which was suspended in the sixth, will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday (Apr. 5). Games three and four of the series will follow about 20 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
