Historic Lacrosse Season Comes to an End

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (8-8, 2-6) hosted the fast-paced Bennies of Saint Benedict (6-6, 4-4), falling to a 22-4 final on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Pointers notched their first goal from Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) at 10:01 in the first quarter off an assist from Addison Novack (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg), tying the game at 1-1. Kaylynn Gracyalny (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski) added another goal at 5:21, to stay within one goal. CSB capitalized and extended their lead to 7-2 to end the quarter.
 
In the second quarter, Jocee Tanner (Tremonton, Utah/Bear River) and Kaylee Slane (Portage, Mich./Central) each secured key ground ball pickups, and Van Dyke consistently won draw controls. Saint Benedict managed to extend its lead with multiple goals, ending the half with a 13-2 Bennie lead.
 
The Pointers battled defensively in the third quarter, with CSB taking a 19-2 lead going into the final quarter.
 
After retrieving a ground ball caused by a turnover, Kaelyn Deutsch (Green Bay, Wis./De Pere) found the back of the net at 6:30 in the fourth quarter. Later, she scored again at 2:58 with an assist from Van Dyke.
 
Slane led the defensive effort with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Van Dyke secured six draw controls and added a goal and an assist. Deutsch added two goals on three shots, including one unassisted goal.
 
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal, facing 41 shots while making 13 saves in 60 minutes of play.
 
The Pointers' season ended with a historic overall record of 8-8, including a stellar 5-0 start to the 2026 season.
