Strong Offensive Start Puts the Pointers on Top; Bahr, Novack, Senart Record Hat Tricks

FRANKLIN, Ind.—The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (6-2) posted a strong offensive start to begin the game against Franklin College (2-5) and earned a win by a 16-9 final. Barrie Bahr (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids), Addison Novack (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) and Ali Senart (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) each recorded hat tricks in the win.
 
Novack found Bahr to begin the strong offensive start for the Pointers at 14:34. Continuing the run, Aubrey Keeping (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) found Josie Voigt (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) at 10:35 for her first goal of the season. The Pointers added two more goals from Bahr, assisted by Senart, and Keeping making it a 4-0 game. Franklin found the back of the net with 27 seconds remaining to close out the first quarter.
 
Senart tacked on her first goal of the game 13 seconds into the second quarter. Franklin added two goals on a player-up opportunity at 13:28 and a free-position goal at 1:27 to cut the Pointers lead to 5-3 at the half.
 
Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) pushed the Pointers' lead to 6-3 at 14:16 in the third quarter. Novack controlled the draw to feed Senart for a goal at 13:57. Franklin scored their fourth goal at 8:49, just before Bahr fed Senart to complete her first collegiate hat trick. Freshman Kaylynn Gracyalny (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski) netted her first collegiate goal at 7:16 on a player-up opportunity. Novack extended the Pointers' lead at 3:11 to close out the third quarter.
 
Bahr found Voigt early in the final quarter to continue the offensive push. Van Dyke fed a pass to Novack for her second goal of the game at 13:42 to put the Pointers up 12-4. Novack completed her hat trick at 12:21 on a free-position goal. Gracyalny put the Pointers up 10 goals at 11:54 on a player-up opportunity from Novack. Franklin tacked on four goals in three and a half minutes. Bahr completed her hat trick at 6:03 off an assist from Van Dyke. Franklin added their final goal of the game at 5:39. Kaelyn Deutsch (Green Bay, Wis./De Pere) found Van Dyke at 4:26 for the game's final goal.
 
The Pointers dominated in the draw circle, controlling 17 total draws. Van Dyke led all players in draws with eight.
 
Lily Blanchard (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) was in goal, making a career-high 13 saves in 60 minutes of play.
 
The Pointers return home on Wednesday (Apr. 1) to host UW-Stout for the WIAC opener at 7:00 p.m.
