Pointers Historic Unbeaten Streak Ends at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis.- The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team's (5-1) historic 5-0 unbeaten streak ended Wednesday evening. The Pointers fell, 19-3, to a strong offensive run by Carthage College (8-1).
 
Carthage controlled the first half, netting six goals in the first quarter and four in the second quarter. Muller found the back of the net at 10:32 of the second quarter to break the Pointers' scoring halt. Barrie Bahr (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) found Kaelyn Deutsch (Green Bay, Wis./De Pere) at 3:04 to close out the half.
 
The Firebirds tacked on four additional goals in the third quarter and two in the fourth quarter. Addison Novack (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) netted the Pointers' final goal at 7:02 in the fourth quarter, unassisted.
 
The Pointers secured 10 draw controls in the battle, Elysia Pitts (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) and Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) with three, Novack with two and Stella Welhouse (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) and Rowan Dunn (Janesville, Wis./Joseph A. Craig) each secured one.
 
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal, making 14 saves in 60 minutes of play.
 
UWSP remains on the road, heading to Notre Dame, Ind. on Friday (Mar. 27) to face Saint Mary's College (Ind.) at 7:00 p.m. ET.
