DAVENPORT, Fla. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team (6-3) earned its fourth-consecutive win with a 10-5 victory over Lawrence (3-7) on Friday night.
Tommy Drohner (Plover, Wis./SPASH) had three hits, including his first career home run. He scored two runs.
Nick Argersinger (Bristol, Wis./Westosha Central) also had three hits and drove in three runs.
Tyler Soule (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) scored four times, had three hits and drove in two.
Tino Ramirez (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) added a pair of hits and had three RBI.
Drohner started the third inning with a single. Two batters later, Soule singled to put two aboard. Back-to-back two-out walks by
Cooper Brown (Appleton, Wis./West) and Ramirez gave UWSP a 1-0 lead.
In the fifth, Lawrence used two hits, a walk and two wild pitches to put the Pointers behind, 2-1.
Drohner belted a leadoff home run to right-center in the sixth to tie the game at 2-2.
Kamden Oliver (Viroqua, Wis./Viroqua) was hit by a pitch and Soule drew a walk. With two away, Ramirez drew a walk to load the bases. Argersinger followed with a single to drive in two and give UWSP a 4-2 advantage.
Drohner singled with one out in the seventh. He stole second and move to third on an errant throw. Oliver drew a walk and Soule ripped a triple to the gap to push home both runners.
Connor Olson (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) was hit by a pitch and Brown hit a sac fly. Ramirez reached on an infield single to drive in another run. Argersinger added an RBI single for a 9-2 lead.
Soule started the ninth with a single. He stole second and advanced to third on a fly out. Ramirez singled to plate Soule for a 10-2 lead.
The Vikings scored three runs in the ninth on two hits and two walks.
Kenny Schultz (Plover, Wis./SPASH) struck out seven in 4.1 innings in the start.
Joe Schneider (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) went 3.2 innings in relief. He struck out five and earned the win.
Jake Williams (Carol Stream, Ill./Wheaton North) and Issac Beeler pitched the ninth inning.
The Pointers close out play in Florida on Saturday (Mar. 21) with a 10:00 a.m. ET game against Rutgers-Camden.
