SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (11-12-0, 5-8-0) fell at UW-Superior (2-20-1, 2-8-0) by a 3-2 final in the series finale on Saturday.
Late in the first period, the host Yellowjackets tallied a power-play goal to put UWSP in a 1-0 hole after one period.
At 9:26 of the second period, the UWSP deficit was 2-0.
Freshman
Jenna Britz (Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata) scored on the power play at 16:05 of the second period to pull UWSP within 2-1.
Grace Torma (Centerville, Minn./Centennial) and
Natalie Ahern (Byron, Minn./Byron) had assists.
Eighteen seconds later, Britz scored again to tie the game at 2-2.
Abby Skelly (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) and
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) had helpers on the tying goal.
In the final minute of regulation, UW-Superior pulled ahead with the eventual game-winner at 19:24.9.
UWSP goaltender
Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) made 39 saves. UW-Superior goaltender Jayda Moyer had 24 saves.
The Pointers head to UW-River Falls for the final series of the regular season beginning on Friday (Feb. 13) at 7:00 p.m.
