NEENAH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team improved to 14-3 with a 7-0 win over Loras and a 6-1 victory over Ripon on Sunday.
UWSP's doubles pairs of
Chloe Regal (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) and
Annie Wierzbicki (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago),
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and
Ellie Aitken (Sterling, Ill./Sterling), and
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) and
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) won by 6-0, 6-2 and 6-1 scores against Loras.
In singles play, Regal and Brosteau needed super-breakers to complete the sweep. Regal won by a 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (7) at No. 1 singles. Brosteau got a 6-0, 0-6, 1-0 (3) victory at No. 5 singles. Jantz, Wierzbicki, Aitken and Steier earned straight-sets wins.
The Pointers swept doubles play against Ripon as well. Aitken and Jantz won, 6-2, Brosteau and Steier got a 6-3 win and
Morgan Milan (Greenfield, Wis./Whitnall) and
Georgia Haddorff (West Bend, Wis./West) completed the sweep with a 6-0 victory.
Regal, Jantz and Wierzbicki all won identical 6-0, 6-1 scores at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Brosteau won at No. 4 singles by a 6-1, 6-2 score. Haddorff rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles.
The Pointers return to Neenah on Sunday (Mar. 1) for matches against Edgewood and Lawrence at 1:00 and 5:00 p.m.
