STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Together UWSP Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) and the UWSP men's and women's basketball programs held events to support the UWSP Cupboard through two successful food collection events, gathering a combined 3,637 pounds of non-perishable food and essential goods for members of the campus community.

The annual Trick or Can event, organized by the UWSP Student-Athlete Advisory Committees, brought student-athletes together to collect non-perishable food items through out the Stevens Point community in support of the UWSP Cupboard. The event collected an impressive 3,132 pounds of goods, demonstrating the commitment of UWSP student-athletes and the generosity of the Stevens Point community.

UWSP men's and women's basketball continued the effort during their annual Purple Gold Game, inviting fans and supporters to contribute donations in support of the UWSP Cupboard. The event collected an additional 505 pounds of food and essential goods, highlighting the generosity and community spirit of Pointer basketball fans and their ongoing support of the UWSP community.

Together, the two events reflect the UWSP Department of Athletics' commitment to making a meaningful impact beyond competition. Through the leadership of student-athletes, coaches, and the generosity of the Pointer community, these efforts help provide important resources to UWSP students experiencing food insecurity.

"We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes, coaches, and fans for coming together to support such an important cause," said Athletics Director Brad Duckworth "These events demonstrate the positive impact our athletic programs can have beyond the playing surface and the power of the Pointer community when we work together."

The UWSP Department of Athletics extends its sincere appreciation to UWSP Cupboard, the entire Campus Activities and Student Engagement staff and those within Student Affairs who worked together to support these causes. The continued partnerships on campus and with the Stevens Point community to support these causes help make a difference for students across the UW-Stevens Point campus.
