DULUTH, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (5-8-1) got a 4-1 win at St. Scholastica (4-9-1) on Friday night in non-conference play.
Neither team scored in the first period and the host-Saints got on the board first at the 8:23 mark of the second period.
Just under two minutes later,
Quinton Hill (Coquitlam, B.C.) tied the game at 1-1.
Camden Markham (Houghton, Mich.) and
Michael Eftimovski (Toronto, Ont.) had assists on the play.
At 11:44 of the second period,
Gabe Randel (Hortonville, Wis.) gave the Pointers the lead with a power-play tally.
Owen Dean (Calgary, Alberta) and
Ryan Hintz (Rockford, Ill.) had helpers on the eventual game-winner.
Alex Johnson (Calgary, Alberta) extended the lead to 3-1 at 8:38 of the third period.
Gino Colangelo (Newmarket, Ont.) and
Cody Pisarczyk (Airdria, Alberta) had assists.
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) completed the scoring with an empty-net goal at 16:51 of the third.
Joseph Manning (Stillwater, Minn.) had the lone assist on the play.
UWSP goaltender
Ryan Maguire (Ridgefield, Conn.) earned the win with 16 saves. CSS goaltender Eino Rissanen had 35 saves.
The Pointers continue the weekend in Minnesota with a 7:00 p.m. game at Augsburg on Saturday (Jan. 10).
