WHITEWATER, Wis. – The No. 14 UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (12-1, 2-0) had four players in double figures in a 79-71 win at UW-Whitewater (9-4, 0-2) in league play on Wednesday.
Josh Bocher (Kewaskum, Wis./Kewaskum) extended his career-high to a team-best 25 points on Wednesday. He was 10-for-14 from the floor.
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) added 18 points.
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) and
Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) were also in double figures with 13 points apiece.
Carter Combs (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) had a team-high six rebounds.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) hit a jumper in the opening minute and Butler ended a 12-0 UWW run with a layup. Bocher scored seven points as UWSP got within 14-13. Miron and Bocher combined for nine points as UWSP took a 24-22 lead.
Baumgartner buried a three to tie the game at 32-32 with just over three minutes left in the half. Bocher had a bucket late and UWSP trailed 35-34 at the half.
Baumgartner opened the second half with a three-pointer. Minutes later, he completed an and-one to put UWSP up, 41-37. Butler tied the game at 47-47 to spark a 10-0 run as the Pointers pulled ahead, 55-47.
Butler and Bocher combing for 14 points down the stretch as the Pointers kept UWW at a two-possession disadvantage the rest of the game. Combs added four points late as the lead reached a game-high 12 in the final minute.
The Pointers host UW-Oshkosh on Saturday (Jan. 10) for a 5:00 p.m. matchup of ranked teams.
