RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (8-10-2, 3-6-1) got three goals from its top line, but fell at UW-River Falls (11-8-1, 5-5-0) by a 5-4 final on Friday.
The Falcons opened the scoring with goals at 7:52 and 11:11 of the first period to put UWSP in a 2-0 hole.
Gabe Randel (Hortonville, Wis.) got UWSP on the board at 14:09 of the first, his seventh-straight game with at least one point.
Camden Markham (Houghton, Mich.) and
Ryan Hintz (Rockford, Ill.) got assists.
Sean Bunting (Phoenix, Ariz.) tied the game with an unassisted goal at 5:55 of the second period. Just under two minutes later, UWRF regained the lead.
Nico Chmeleveski tallied a power-play goal at 5:12 of the third period to tie the game at 3-3. Markham and Randel had assists.
Chmelevski put the Pointers ahead, 4-3, at 7:26 of the third with his second of the period. Markham tallied his third assist of the night, a season-high.
UWRF tied the game at 9:58 of the third and scored the game-winner at 18:49.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) made 38 saves. UWRF goaltender Brennan Boynton had 29 saves.
The Pointers and Falcons wrap up the season series on Saturday (Jan. 31). Puck drop in Rover Falls is set for 7:00 p.m.
