STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (8-8-0) fell by a 4-0 final against No. 3 Augsburg (10-2-1) on Saturday.
The Auggies broke through at 8:29 of the first period. UWSP goaltender
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) made 11 saves in the first period to keep UWSP close.
Augsburg dominated the second period scoring goals at 8:18 and 13:26. But Griege made 22 saves to give UWSP a chance in the third.
At 13:31 of the third, the Auggies scored on the power-play to complete the scoring.
In the game, the teams combined to hit the post or crossbar seven times.
Griege totalled 51 saves. Augsburg goaltender Marissa Paaske had 17 saves in the win.
The Pointers travel to Minnesota on Sunday (Jan. 11) for a 3:00 p.m. game at Hamline.
