OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (8-7, 1-1) was swept in conference play by No. 3 UW-Oshkosh (14-2, 2-0) by a 25-19, 25-12, 25-18 final.
Carly Thomka (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) tied for the match-high with 14 kills.
Abby Nevins (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) had a game-high 21 digs and
Hannah Strege (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee) led all players with 23 assists.
Thomka began the night with a kill.
Lauren Shaw (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township),
Ella Trieloff (Park Ridge, Ill./St. Viator),
Logan Cregan (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville Area) and Strege had a kill apiece as UWSP went in front, 9-5. Cregan had three kills and Thomka recorded consecutive kills for a 17-16 edge. Thomka and
Delilah Hyland (Glen Ellyn, Ill./IC Catholic Prep) each had a kill as UWO closed the set with a 9-2 run.
The second set started with a Thomka kill and she added an ace for a brief 3-2 lead. Thomka had four kills down the stretch but the Titans took a 2-0 lead.
Thomka had four kills and Cregan added two as the Pointers played from behind early in the third set. Hyland had a pair of kills late as the Titans finished the sweep.
The Pointers are back home on Tuesday (Sept. 30) to host UW-Platteville. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. and it is "Purple Out" night at Berg Gym.
