NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Freshman
Sophia Ryan (Orland Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) scored her first collegiate goal as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (2-2-1) fell by a 6-1 final at St. Olaf (4-1-0) on Wednesday.
The host Oles got on the board in the second minute of play and scored five times in the first half to put the match out of reach.
Just 33 seconds into the second half, Ryan got UWSP on the board. Sophomores
Rita Danner (West Des Moines, Iowa/Waukee) and
Christa Borchardt (New Berlin, Wis./West) recorded assists, the first of the season for each.
St. Olaf added another goal in the 49th minute to complete the scoring.
Shea Lucas (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) made four saves in the first half.
Erika Panella (Waukesha, Wis./Kettle Moraine) had five saves in the second half.
The Pointers travel to Concordia (Wis.) for a 3:00 p.m. match on Saturday (Sept. 13).
