STEVENS POINT, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point women's lacrosse team (3-14, 2-7) faced the Augsburg Auggies (0-11, 0-9) for senior night, winning 18-3.
The record-breaking night began at 12:48 in the first quarter when
Paige Allen (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) scored on a free-position shot.
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) found
Barrie Bahr (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) for a short-handed goal at 5:22, to be up 2-0.
Aubrey Keeping (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) found the back of the net at 2:27 to increase the Pointers' lead. Leising scored an unassisted, short-handed goal with 30 seconds remaining in the first quarter to put the Pointers up 4-0 going into the second quarter.
The Pointers opened the second quarter with two goals, Keeping from Leising at 14:44 and Bahr from Leising at 14:22, increasing the Pointers' lead to 6-0. Bahr found the back of the net at 10:16 off an assist from Leising on a player-up opportunity. The Pointers' offensive run would not stop there as Leising scored on a free-position, player-up opportunity at 8:19 and Bahr scored at 8:00 off an assist from Leising. Augsburg got one goal back at 2:45, just before Leising netted a goal from
Abbey Boersma (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) at 1:57 to push the lead to 10-1. Allen rounded out the second quarter, scoring on a player-up opportunity off an assist by Leising with 53 seconds remaining, to be up by 10 goals going into halftime.
Augsburg netted an unassisted goal to open the third quarter at 13:37. Keeping answered back with an unassisted goal at 10:22 to bring the game to 12-2. Leising earned herself a free-position goal at 7:45. Two minutes later,
Aliseah Senart (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) found Keeping for a goal. Leising recorded her 100
th career point, being the first in program history, at 2:55 on an assist to a
Marissa Van Dyke (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Southwest) goal to increase the Pointers' lead to 15-2 going into the fourth quarter.
Van Dyke netted a goal off an assist from Leising 29 seconds into the final quarter. Augsburg took one goal back at 9:29 to make the game 16-3. The Bahr and Leising scoring and assist duo came back at 8:48. To wrap up the final game of the season,
Ellana Stafford (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) found Keeping for a goal with 22 seconds remaining.
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) was in goal, completing eight saves in 60 minutes of play.
