STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point baseball team (15-21) dropped the home finale to visiting Dubuque (18-18) by a 20-8 final in non-conference action.
 
Nick Argersinger (Bristol, Wis./Westosha Central) and Cooper Brown (Appleton, Wis./Appleton West) combined for five on the Pointers' eight hits in the game. Tyler Soule (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) and Colton Martell (Sussex, Wis./Sussex Hamilton) each homered.
 
The Spartans took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on two hits, one being a home run.
 
In the bottom of the first, Brown worked a two-out walk. Soule followed with a two-run home run to get UWSP within 3-2.
 
The teams traded runs in the second inning with Martell crushing the first pitch of the frame out to center.
 
After Dubuque put up five in the third, Brown singled with one away. Soule drew a walk and Connor Olson (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) singled with two runs scoring on an error in left field.
 
UD added one in the fourth, two in the seventh and two more in the eighth as UWSP trailed, 14-5.
 
Martell reached to lead off the eighth on a UD error. Anthony Tomczak (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) drew a walk and another UD miscue allowed Martell to race home. A fielder's choice put runners at the corner and with two away, Argersinger drove in a run with a single. Brown followed with an RBI single as UWSP got within 14-8.
 
The Spartans tacked on six runs in the ninth on six hits to complete the scoring.
 
The Pointers used 10 pitchers in the game. Kenny Schultz (Plover, Wis./SPASH) struck out three in 2.0 innings. Joe Schneider (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander), Josh Steger (Lomira, Wis./Lomira), Jeremiah Jahnke (Winneconne, Wis./Winneconne) and Easton Zempel (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) each worked an inning and had two strikeout apiece. Jacob Borchert (New Berlin, Wis./New Berlin) pitched 1.0 innings.
 
UWSP travels to UW-La Crosse to wrap up the regular season. First pitch in the four-game series is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Friday (May 2).
