STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team won two tiebreaks and two super-breakers in a 6-1 win over Edgewood to close out the season.
UWSP started the day by winning the team doubles point. UWSP's No. 1 duo of
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won 6-2. UWSP's No. 3 pair of
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) and
Abigail Ashley (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) won 6-4.
Jantz won at No. 1 singles by a 6-3, 7-6 (4) final.
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) also needed a second set tiebreak to win at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7).
Kunze and
Morgan Milan (Greenfield, Wis./Whitnall) won super-breakers. Kunze took her No. 4 singles match, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (7). Milan won at No. 5 singles, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (8).
Scharf nearly pulled off a super-breaker herself, coming up short at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 4-6, 0-1 (8).
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) got a win by walkover at No. 6 singles.
The Pointers finish the season with a 14-11 record.
