EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (12-14-1) dropped an 8-2 decision at UW-Eau Claire (19-8-0) in the WIAC Tournament semifinals (presented by Culver's).
UWEC got the opening goal, but freshman
Avery Engbrecht (Winona, Minn./Winona) scored at the 5:00 mark of the first period to tie the game at 1-1. Senior
Molly Millar (Anchorage, Alaska/East) got the lone assist on the tally.
Twenty-eight seconds after UWEC took a 3-1 lead, Millar scored at 11:34 of the first to get UWSP within one. Senior
Soile Doyle (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) was credited with the lone assist.
The Blugolds added a power-play goal late and UWSP faced a 4-2 deficit after one. UWEC scored four times in the second period to complete the scoring.

Anne Beck (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) played the final 48:54 and had 43 saves. UWEC goaltender Alexa Backmann had eight saves.
