LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (17-8, 7-7) dropped the regular season finale at No. 5 UW-La Crosse (21-4, 12-2) by a 74-60 final on Saturday.
 
Josiah Bulter led the Pointers in scoring with 14 points. Darrius Bolden (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet) was also in double figures with 11 points.
 
Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) drilled a three and Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) flushed a dunk as the Pointers trailed by one, 13-12, midway through the first half. Bolden and Baumgartner hit back-to-back threes as UWSP got its largest lead at 20-16. A 9-0 run by UWL put the Pointers behind and a three in the final minute of the half got UWSP within 27-26 at the break.
 
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) and Butler had two points each early in the second half. A 11-2 run by UWL put the hosts comfortably ahead for the remainder of the game. Krohn buried a three and Bolden scored four straight, but the Pointers' deficit was double digits most of the remainder of the game.
 
The Pointers had locked up the four-seed in the WIAC Tournament prior to Saturday's game. UWSP will host UW-Whitewater on Monday (Feb. 24) in the first round of the tournament at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at https://uwsptickets.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?id=2723.
