SUPERIOR, Wis. – The No. 10 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (18-5-2, 10-3-2) and No. 11 UW-Superior (18-4-3, 11-2-2) wrapped up the winner-take-all season finale with a 2-2 tie. The host Yellowjackets prevailed in the fourth round of the shootout to claim the WIAC regular season title.
Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont.) started the scoring at the 10:43 mark of the first period.
Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont.) and
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) had assists on the goal.
At 17:15 of the first period,
Tyler German (Canton, Mich.) scored a shorthanded goal to give UWSP a 2-0 lead after one.
The Yellowjackets started the second period with a goal just 39 seconds in. UWS tied the game at 10:21 of the second period.
Neither team could break the tie the remainder of regulation or overtime.
In the shootout, UWS scored in the first round.
Sean Bunting (Phoenix, Ariz.) tied the shootout with a goal in the second round. Neither team scored in the third round and UWS got the lone goal in the fourth round to secure the league title and No. 1 seed in the WIAC Tournament.

Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) 24 saves. UWS goaltenders Jack Boschert and Jan Skorpik combined for 19 saves.
The Pointers will await the winner of the first round series between UW-Eau Claire and Northland. UWSP will host the team that advances in the semifinal round beginning on Feb. 28. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
