Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Trio of Pointers in Double Figures in Non-Conference Finale Win

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Three members of the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (10-1) were in double figures in an 87-70 win over Lakeland (2-9) to close out non-conference play on Monday.
 
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) led all scorers with 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor. Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) and Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) were also in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Krohn had a game-high seven rebounds.
 
Butler opened the game with a bucket and, after a Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) three-pointer, UWSP was up 11-1. Butler buried a three with Grant Manz (Kiel, Wis./Kiel), Max Raimer (Sun Prairie, Wis./East) and Josh Bocher (Kewaskum, Wis./Kewaskum) all adding a bucket for a 22-5 advantage.
 
Miron halted a three-minute drought with a jumper after Lakeland got within 26-24. Krohn and Bocher each had a dunk late and the lead was 45-39 at the break.
 
Carter Combs (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) completed an and-one and combined with Krohn for 11 points early in the second half. Miron buried a three to push the lead to 61-49.
 
Tyler Orr (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) hit from beyond the arc to make it 68-50 with 9:39 to go. Miron and Isaiah Moore (Chicago, Ill./Evanston Township) hit consecutive threes to push the lead past 20. Brandon Tilley (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) scored his first career points with a late bucket to cap the win.
 
The Pointers open conference play at home on Saturday (Jan. 3) against UW-Eau Claire. Tip off is slated for 5:00 p.m.
