OLIVET, Mich. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (7-1) had four players in double figures as the Pointers won, 76-63, at the University of Olivet (2-5) on Saturday.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) led all scorers with 21 points.
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) was 6-for-6 from the free throw line and hit three three-pointers for 19 points.
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) and
Josh Bocher (Kewaskum, Wis./Kewaskum) were also in double figures with 16 and 11, respectively. Bocher had a game-best eight rebounds.
Butler and Krohn combined for UWSP's first eight points as the Pointers played from behind early. Miron buried a three and Bocher had four points for a 23-22 lead.
Butler nailed consecutive threes and Bocher added five points.
Carter Combs (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) drilled a three just before the buzzer and UWSP led, 42-38, at the break.
After the opening bucket of the second half by Olivet, the Pointers reeled off an 8-1 run to put a little distance on the lead. Butler hit from beyond the arc and the lead was 56-46 midway through the second half.
Krohn and Butler went a combined 7-for-8 from the free throw line down the stretch as UWSP maintained a double-digit lead until the final buzzer.
The Pointers travel to Texas for the Trinity Classic beginning on Saturday (Dec. 20) when UWSP will face Hardin-Simmons at 5:00 p.m.
