Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Three members of the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (1-0) as the Pointers opened the season with a 79-59 win at MSOE (0-1) on Saturday.
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) led all scorers with 24 points.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) added 21 and
Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) was also in double figures with 11.
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) nearly joined the trio adding nine points. Krohn had a game-high six rebounds.
Baumgartner opened the game with a three and Butler scored UWSP's next seven points as the Pointers got a 10-9 edge. Krohn scored six points and another Baumgartner three put UWSP ahead, 20-15.
Butler drained a three with just over a minute left in the half as UWSP regained the lead at the break, 34-33.
Krohn and Miron combined for all nine points in a 9-0 run as UWSP built a double-digit lead, 47-36. Butler scored the next five UWSP points and the lead was a dozen midway through the second half.
Baumgartner, Butler and
Carter Combs (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) hit threes down the stretch as the Pointers held off the Raiders for the season-opening win.
The Pointers travel to Minnesota to face St. Olaf on Wednesday (Nov. 12). Tip-off in Northfield is set for 7:00 p.m.
