STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (4-0- advanced to the championship game of the UWSP Pre-Thanksgiving Tournament with a 78-67 win over Bethany Lutheran (2-3) on Friday.
Five Pointers were in double figures with
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) and
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) contributing a team-high 15 points each.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) added 12 points with
Carter Combs (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) and
Max Raimer (Sun Prairie, Wis./East) posting 11 points apiece. Combs led the team with eight rebounds.
Miron and Krohn each had four points early as UWSP took an 8-5 lead. Raimer poured in nine points and the advantage was 22-13 midway through the first half.
Miron and Combs each hit from behind the arc to push the lead to double digits both times.
Josh Bocher (Kewaskum, Wis./Kewaskum) scored his first points at UWSP with four as the Pointers were up 34-21. Krohn and Miron each added a late bucket and UWSP held a 38-26 lead at the break.
Combs buried back-to-back threes and Butler posted six-consecutive points as UWSP led, 56-37. Butler added nine points down the stretch and Bocher scored the Pointers' final four points as UWSP held off BLC.
The Pointers will take on Millikin in the championship game at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 22).
