Men’s Wrestling Wins Three Brackets at Pointer Open

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team won three bracket and had a finalist in three others as the season began at the Pointer Open on Saturday.
 
Results
 
Easton Hull (Waupun, Wis./Waupun) won the gold 184 bracket. He went 4-0 with two wins by fall and another by 6-3 decision.
 
Deakin Trotzer (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) placed first in the silver 149 bracket. He won all five matches on the day, three by tech fall, one by major decision and the title bout in sudden victory, 4-1. Emmanuel Furlow (Madison, Wis./La Follette) and Hunter Bozile (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls) each got a decision win in the bracket.
 
Joe Kelley (Munising, Mich.) won the silver 174 bracket, He had four wins on the day, three by fall and one by decision.
 
Raydon Bipes (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson) got second in the silver 157 bracket. He had three wins, two by fall and one by tech fall. Connor Schenian (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) took sixth with a win by fall and a 6-5 decision win. Gavin Madson (Schofield, WIs./D.C. Everest) got a win by fall in the bracket.
 
Zak Wrobel (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Sturgeon Bay) was runner-up in the silver 184 bracket. He had a major decision win and a win by fall to reach the finals. Kyler Walske (Mishicot, Wis./Mishicot) got a win by major decision in the bracket.
 
Owen Hansen (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) placed second in the silver 197 bracket. He had a win by major decision and a win by fall.
 
Riese Thornberry (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) placed fourth in the gold 149 bracket. He earned three wins, all by decision. Maddox Rye (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) also had three wins by decision to finish as runner-up in the consolation side of the bracket.
 
Dylan Cariveau (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area) took fifth in the gold 174 bracket. He got two wins by decision and one by tech fall.
 
Lane Karsten (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) finished fifth in the silver 133 bracket. He had a major decision and a tech fall victory. George Ahles (Mosinee, Wis./Mosinee) got two wins, both by decision, in the bracket.
 
Mark Jeske (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) won a match by fall in the silver 165 bracket.
 
Seth Gomez (Antioch, Ill./ACHS) got one win by 5-2 decision in the gold 197 bracket. Jack Callen (Portage, Wis./Portage) also got a decision win, 11-7, in the gold 285 bracket. Michael Upson (Batavia, Wis./Random Lake) got a 5-3 decision win in the silver 285 bracket.
 
The Pointers are off to Indiana for the Trine Invitational on Saturday (Nov. 8) beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET.
