PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point football team (3-1, 0-1) suffered its first loss of the season at No. 7/8 UW-Platteville (4-0, 1-0) by a 52-0 final.
Quarterback
Charlie Smith (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) had eight completions for 59 yards. He also ran the ball six times for a team-best 31 yards.
Defensively,
Jack Luedtke (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth) led the team with 11 tackles.
Paul Morris (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) had an interception.
The Pioneers put together a methodical 19-play, 80-yard drive for a touchdown on their first possession. On the final play of the first quarter, UWP intercepted a Smith pass.
Three plays later, the Pointers faced a 14-0 deficit. The Pioneers scored again on their next possession and tacked on a field goal as the first half ended with UWSP trailing, 24-0.
Morris made an interception midway through the third quarter, the first of his career. The Pioneers scored touchdowns on their four other possessions of the second half.
UWSP will host UW-Whitewater on Saturday (Oct. 11) at 1:00 p.m.
