ELDRIDGE, Iowa—The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team defeated St. Ambrose with a final score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Pointers swept the doubles matches with scores of 6-3, 8-7 (4), and 6-4 to secure the team doubles point.
Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) took the No. 1 singles match with a final of 6-3, 7-5.
Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) won at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-0.
Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli) battled strong at No. 2 singles, falling in set one 3-6. She forced a super-breaker with a win in set two 7-5, but fell just short in the super-breaker 7-10.
To end the afternoon in Eldrige,
Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) and
Allie Brosteau (Suamico, Wis./Bay Port) both earned a 6-3, 6-1 singles win at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
The Pointers return to the court on Sept. 20 for the ITA Regionals in St. Peter, Minn.
