OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (13-12, 7-7) secured the four-seed in the WIAC Tournament with a 69-64 win at UW-Oshkosh (10-15, 3-11) in the regular season finale on Saturday.
 
Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) scored 18 of his game-high 23 points in the second half. Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) added double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) had nine, all in the first half. Darrius Bolden (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet) led UWSP with six rebounds and five assists.
 
Bolden drilled a three in the midst of a 7-0 start for the Pointers. Abdul-Wahid nailed a three to cap 7-2 run as UWSP led, 14-7. Krohn had three points as UWO used a 10-3 run to tie the game at 17-17.
 
Baumgartner broke the tie with a three and Butler added five as UWSP regained an advantage with an 8-0 run. Baumgartner buried two more three-pointers and the Pointers held a 33-23 lead at the break.
 
Abdul-Wahid hit twice from beyond the arc and had eight points early as UWSP extended the lead to 43-26. Krohn added a trio of layups as UWSP was ahead 56-40 with 9:30 remaining.
 
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) scored a layup. Abdul-Wahid had two layups of his own as the lead stayed in double digits until there was less than three minutes left. Butler made a layup with 1:06 to go and UWSP held on for the win.

The Pointers will host UW-Whitewater on Tuesday (Feb. 20) at 7:00 p.m. in the first round of the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's).
