STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The No. 11 UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team (10-1) never trailed in a 90-73 win over North Park (8-4) in the non-conference finale on Monday.
Darrius Bolden (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet) recorded his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 assists.
Cal Krohn (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) also had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
All five starters were in double figures and
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) poured in a game-high 23 points.
Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) had 16 points and
Seth Miron (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) added 12.
Krohn scored the first four point and Butler drained a three for an early 7-0 lead. Miron scored four points and UWSP led 11-2.
Logan Baumgartner (Medford, Wis./Medford) and Butler each hit a three as the lead was 23-9 midway through the first half.
Bolden and Butler each hit a three down the stretch and the Pointers held a 45-35 lead at the break.
Miron got in on the long-range shooting with an early three. Butler hit from deep twice more as the Pointers held a 66-52 edge halfway through the second half.
Miron nailed a three late and the Pointers hit all eight free throws in the final 3:09 of the game to seal the win.
The Pointers open conference play at home on Saturday (Jan. 4). Tip-off against UW-Platteville is slated for 5:00 p.m.
