UWSP Volleyball Season Ends in NCAA Regional Semifinals

HOLLAND, Mich. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (20-12) saw its postseason run end in straight sets (25-15, 25-15, 25-18) by No. 2 and host Hope (27-2).
 
Senior Ashley Kopp (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) tied the UWSP career record by recording her 208th career service ace. She added eight kills to move up another spot to 21st in NCAA DIII history with 2,209 career kills. Kopp also led UWSP with 13 digs.
 
Fellow senior Sydney Mosinski (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) also had eight kills to tie Kopp for the team lead. Senior Grace Michalske (Wausau, Wis./West) posted a team-best 25 assists and concludes her illustrious career with 4,503, good for second in program history.
 
Mosinski had two early kills as UWSP jumped in front, 5-3, in the first. Mosinski had four more kills in the set, but Hope pulled away for the first-set win.
 
Kopp had three kills early in the second set to a 4-4 tie. Hope put up an 11-1 run to seize control of the set. Lauren Shaw (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) had two kills and Michalske had two aces as UWSP fell behind 2-0.
 
Kopp had two kills and a service ace to tie the school record as UWSP took a 7-4 lead. Shaw had a kill and combined on consecutive blocks with Carly Thomka (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) for a 12-8 advantage. Kopp and Shaw combined for three kills, but Hope Rallied to take a 19-15 lead. Senior Zoe Kramer (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) got her third kill of the match late, but Hope finished the set and the match with a 6-1 run.
 
Kopp, Kramer, Michalske and Mosinski end their UWSP careers with four-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and 95 wins in their four-year careers.
