Pointers Head to Michigan Again for NCAA Tournament, Face Otterbein in Opener

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The No. 25 UW-Stevens Point volleyball team will make a return to trip to Holland, Mich., the same regional host UWSP played in last season. The Pointers face Otterbein in first round action on Thursday.
 
The Pointers went 19-11 and were in first place in the WIAC standings until the final day of the regular season. UWSP played 13 teams also selected to this year's NCAA Tournament.
 
Senior Ashley Kopp (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) leads the Pointers and was named the WIAC Offensive Player of the Year last week for the second time in her career. She has 2,176 career kills, the most among active DIII players and the 24th-most in NCAA DIII history. She earned her fourth-straight All-WIAC first team selection last week as well. She surpassed the 500-kills plateau last week for the fourth-consecutive season and is third in the nation this season with 508 kills.
 
Fellow senior Grace Michalske (Wausau, Wis./West) has 1,046 assists this season, the second-most in the WIAC this season. She surpassed the 4,000-assists mark this season and is second in program history with 4,424.
 
Otterbein went 21-8 and won the OAC Tournament title with consecutive 3-1 wins. The Cardinals led the OAC with 234 team services aces this season.
 
UWSP will make its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and eighth in program history.
