Thornberry Wins Bracket for Pointers at Trine Invitational

ANGOLA, Ind. – The UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team won one bracket and had third-place finishes in four other brackets at the Trine Invitational on Saturday.
 
Results
 
Riese Thornberry (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) won the 141 bracket going 5-0 on the day. He won twice by fall. In the quarterfinals, he won by a 4-1 decision. He completed the bracket title with back-to-back tech fall wins.
 
Josh Heuss (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) took third in the 165 bracket. He earned five wins, two by major decision, two by fall and one by decision.
 
Easton Hull (Waupun, Wis./Waupun) finished third in the 184 bracket. He got five wins on the day, two by fall and two by tech fall.
 
Logan Neitzel (Lomira, Wis./Lomira) placed third at 197. He also picked up five wins on the day. Two wins were by decision.
 
Blake Flach (Shell Lake, Wis./Shell Lake) was third in the 285 bracket. He notched five wins, two by decision.
 
Carson Trotzer (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) came in fifth in the 174 bracket. He won twice by fall, once by major decision and in the fifth-place match, by no contest.
 
At 165, Dylan Cariveau (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area) won twice by major decision and once by medical forfeit. Mark Jeske (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) had two wins, both by fall, in the 174 bracket. Zach Canaday won twice at 184, one each by decision and fall. Cole Steffen (St. Croix Falls, Wis./St. Croix Falls) won twice at 149, once each by tech fall and decision.
 
Julius Florence (Indianapolis, Ind.) earned a win by fall at 197. Jack Callen (Portage, Wis./Portage) won by fall at 184. Bryce Buchanan (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska) got a win by fall in the 174 bracket. Maddox Rye (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) and Oscar Estrada (Manitowoc, Wis./Manitowoc Lincoln) each won once by fall at 149. Austin Gray (Tomah, Wis./Tomah) won a fall at 125.
 
The Pointers travel to Whitewater for a conference dual on Friday (Nov. 15) beginning at 7:00 p.m.
