Carson Trotzer (Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) had an impressive first day for the UW-Stevens Point men's wrestling team as the Pointers sit in the middle of the pack at the end of day one at the Pete Willson Invitational.

Trotzer is the lone Pointer still in the championship bracket after pinning all three opponents he faced on Friday at 174. All three of his wins by fall came in the first period, timed at 1:19, 0:49 and 2:27, respectively.
Cooper Peterson (Cannon Falls, Minn./Cannon Falls) won by tech fall, 18-3, in his opening match at 141. He then won twice in the consolation bracket, once by major decision and a 4-1 decision.
Rises Thornberry picked up three wins in the 149 bracket. He began with a major decision in his opening match. Then in the consolation bracket, he won by fall and earned a 7-2 decision victory.
Trystan Altensey (Port Byron, Ill./Riverdale) won twice in the consolation bracket at 184. He earned a win by fall in the second period and picked up a 7-4 decision victory.
Luca Paladino (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) posted a pair of wins in the consolation bracket at 125. He earned a major decision win and an 8-6 decision victory.
Blaze Thurber (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) won his opening match at 133 by tech fall, 18-1.
Easton Hull (Waupun, Wis./Waupun) posted a 14-4 major decision win in his opening match at 157.
Blake Flach (Shell Lake, Wis./Shell Lake) earned a 4-1 decision win in the consolation bracket at 197.
Trotzer will represent UWSP on Saturday (Jan. 27) as day two action at the Pete Willson Invitational begins at 11:00 a.m.
