UWSP Women’s Tennis Team, 16 Individuals Nab ITA Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team was bestowed All-Academic Team honors by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the organization announced Wednesday (July 12). Additionally, 11 women and five members of the men's team picked up Scholar-Athlete recognition.

The UWSP women's team was one of 160 Division III programs recognized by ITA. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
 
In 2023, 1,204 DIII women and 1,012 DIII men were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Individual student-athletes must have had a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
 
UWSP's individual winners on the women's side were Haley Densow (Kewaskum, Wis./Kewaskum), Grace Henes (McFarland, Wis./McFarland), Tristin Jantz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central), Jenna Koepp (Watertown, Wis./Watertown), Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli), Chloe Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska), Faith Leithold (Onalaska, Wis./Onalaska), Quinlyn Mack (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie), Emma Rockweiler (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area), Jordan Scharf (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) and Brooklynn Steier (West De Pere, Wis./West De Pere). For the men, Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton), Dan Harris (Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona), Diego Mosquera Herrero (Madrid, Spain), Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and Samuel Zapata Hernandez (Envigado, Col./Colegio Colombo Britanico) were award winners.
