LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the fourth-straight year, the UW-Stevens Point volleyball team earned the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association (USMC/AVCA) Team Academic Award. It is also the eighth time in the last 10 years that UWSP has won the award.

The Pointers were one of six WIAC teams and 229 Division III women's programs to win the award for the 2022-23 academic year.
 
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
 
 
In 2022, the Pointers finished 26-8 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It was the third-straight and sixth time in nine years that UWSP appeared in the NCAA Tournament.
 
The 2023 season begins with a road trip to Virginia beginning Sept. 1 with a pair of matches against fellow NCAA Tournament opponents from a season ago.
