UWSP Men’s Wrestling Schedule for 2023-24 Released

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point head men's wrestling coach Johnny Johnson has released his program's schedule for 2023-24. The slate features five home dates, including the annual Pointer Open.

The season kicks off on Saturday, November 4 with the annual Pointer Open which will be contested in the Skyward Fieldhouse beginning at 9:00 a.m.
 
The Pointers then hit the road for events at Trine and Concordia (Wis.) the following two Saturday's. On. Nov. 30, the Pointers travel to UW-Oshkosh to open league action.
 
UWSP will be home the entire month of December, beginning with a conference dual versus UW-Platteville on Dec. 5. Four days later, the Pointers host Luther and Cornell for the Pointer Duals. The final event of 2023 will see UW-Whitewater in town for the first Bourbon Brawl on Dec. 15 at 7:00 p.m.
 
January sees the Pointers away from home all month. The first event is the Hawk Classic in Montgomery, Ala., on Jan. 7. UWSP will head to Illinois twice for the Al Hanke and Pete Willson Invitationals with a dual at Carthage in between.
 
The final home dual features a visit from UW-La Crosse on Feb. 2 at 7:00 p.m. The next day, UWSP will send athletes to the Don Parker Open. The regular season concludes with a dual at UW-Eau Claire.
 
UW-Platteville will host the WIAC Championships on Feb. 17. Postseason action will continue on March 1 and 2 at the Upper Midwest Regional. The NCAA Championships will be March 15 and 16 hosted by UW-La Crosse.
 
Luca Paladino (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) returns after an outstanding sophomore campaign that culminated at the NCAA Championships. He finished with a 24-8 record with one of those victories at nationals. Trystan Altensey (Port Byron, Ill./Riverdale) also returns for his senior season and was a NWCA Scholar All-American last season.
