PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team (15-7, 1-3) fell in a pair of one-run games at UW-Platteville (17-9, 3-3) on Saturday. UWSP dropped the opener, 1-0, before coming up just short in game two, 3-2.

Keltie Cloud (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) recorded her first career RBI with a sac fly in game two. Jesse Klicker (Spring Grove, Ill/Richmond-Burton Community) had two hits in game one and Sophia Heckendorf (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) had two hits in game two as UWSP's bats were held to 10 hits on the day.

Game 1 – UWSP 0, UWP 1
The Pioneers struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning on two hits.

Klicker singled with one away in the second and Rachel Baker (Richmond, Ill./Richmond-Burton Community) drew a walk, but were stranded when the frame ended.

Sara Traxel (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) singled to begin the fourth. She moved to second on a passed ball, but ended the inning there.

Klicker singled again to start the seventh. A two-out single by Emmie Cibrario (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) put runners on the corners where they remained as the game ended.

Ashley Zygowski (Saukville, Wis./Port Washington) took the tough-luck loss with just the one run allowed. She struck out four in 4.0 innings. Makenna Tkach (Streator, Ill./Marquette Academy) pitched the final 2.0 with one hit allowed and one strikeout.

Game 2 – UWSP 2, UWP 3

UWP put up two runs in the second inning on three hits and a walk. The second run scored on a sac fly.

Heckendorf singled to lead off the third. She moved up on a sacrifice bunt. Candre drew a walk and an error loaded the bases. Allie Meyers (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) hit a sac fly to get UWSP within 2-1.

The Pioneers got the run back in the bottom of the third, an unearned tally.

Trinity Otto (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and Traxel each had a single as UWSP had a runner on in the fourth, fifth and sixth to no avail.

Heckendorf hit a triple to start the seventh inning, her first career triple. Cloud pinch hit and lifted a sac fly to center as UWSP got one run.
