ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 6 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (20-6-4) pushed the No. 3 Adrian Bulldogs (24-4-2) to overtime in an eventual 3-2 defeat in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.

The Bulldogs struck first with a goal at 4:48 of the first period to put UWSP in a 1-0 hole.

Later in the first period, the Pointers pulled even on the power play. Andrew Poulias (Whitby, Ont./) tipped in a cross from Dawson Sciarrino (Greensburg, Pa./) at 16:01. Mick Heneghan (Niles, Ill./) also got an assist on the play. It was Poulias' 14th goal of the year, tying him for the team lead.

Adrian again took the lead in the second period with a power-play goal of its own. Alessio Luciani put his second goal of the game in the net.

Once again the Pointers responded to tie the game. At 6:42 of the second, Sciarrino poked a rebound past the Adrian netminder for the 2-2 tie. Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir William Churchill) and Nick Gonrowski (New Hope, Minn./) added assists on the play. It was Sciarrino's eighth goal of the season with Anderson notching his team-lead tying 15th helper.

Neither team scored in the third period send the game to overtime, familiar territory for the Pointers. But a pair of penalty calls saw Adrian with a two-man advantage. The Bulldogs scored the game-winner at 9:38 of overtime on the 5-on-3 power play to end UWSP's season.

Senior Ryan Wagner (Indianapolis, Ind./) was again fantastic making 33 saves in net. Adrian goaltender Nic Tallarico made 38 saves in the win.
