STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (2-3-0) notched a number of firsts on Sunday, including the first home win of the season, 4-0, over visiting St. Catherine (2-2-0).
UWSP goaltender
Emily Griege (Chesterfield, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) posted her first collegiate shutout, earning the win with a 15-save performance.
Riley Novak (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) scored her first career goal and added her first career assist in the win. Her goal came at 5:51 of the first period.
Amanda Pouchnik (Viola, Idaho/Moscow) registered her first collegiate point with an assist.
Ali Granovsky (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville) also had an assist on the eventual game-winner.
Novak got her first career assist in the second period with a pass that sent
Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) in on a breakaway. Stanius deked the SCU goaltender to push UWSP lead to 2-0 at 17:46 of the second period.
The Pointers made it 3-0 at 9:10 of the third period with
Maddie Andrle (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) scoring her first of the season.
Courtney Leising (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) added a helper on the goal.
Annika Horman (Appleton, Wis./North) scored an empty-net goal with 1:31 remaining in the game to complete the scoring.
UWSP will conclude the three-game homestand with the conference opener on Thursday (Nov. 9) against UW-River Falls at 7:00 p.m.
