HOLLAND, Mich. – The No. 23 UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (23-10) staged a comeback for the ages to reverse sweep Case Western Reserve University (22-9) in the opening match of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. The Pointers rallied for a 3-2 win (19-25, 8-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-7).

Ashley Kopp (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) recorded her 23rd double-double of the season. She had a team-best 15 kills, one of our Pointers in double figures. She added 10 digs.
Grace Michalske (Wausau, Wis./West) posted a match-high 44 assists.
Lauren Shaw (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) racked up 13 kills with
Carly Thomka (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) adding 11 and
Sydney Mosinski (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) had 10.
Tessa Erlandson (Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon Wanamingo) led the Pointers with 23 digs.
Emily Nielsen (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) was also in double figures with 17 digs.
Kopp had three early kills as the Pointers and Spartans started even at 6-6.
Erin Gillen (Richfield, Wis./Slinger) served an ace to close a 4-0 run as UWSP went in front, 11-9.
Summer Salettel (Beaver Dam, Wis./Beaver Dam) had a block and a kill late as CWRU used an 8-1 run to take to opening set.
Ella Trieloff (Park Ridge, Ill./St. Viator) opened the second set with an ace. Kopp had three kills with Mosinski and
Jadyn Clarner (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) adding one each as CWRU rolled to the set two win.
Kopp had a kill and an ace early as the teams tied 6-6 to begin the third set. Mosinski took over with a kill to start a 5-0 run with Erlandson wrapping the run with back-to-back aces. Thomka had a pair of kills as UWSP regained the lead at 18-17. The Mosinski block party sparked the Pointers to the third set win as she had three blocks in the final five points.
Thomka had two kills and a block as UWSP jumped ahead 7-3 to begin the fourth set. Thomka had two more kills as the lead grew to 16-10. Thomka and
Ryleigh Zeller (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) each had an ace as the Pointers maintained a 21-17 advantage. Thomka concluded the set win with back-to-back kills.
Mosinski had a kill and two blocks as the Pointers opened the fifth set with a 6-1 run. Shaw had four kills as UWSP held the large lead the rest of the fifth to complete the revers sweep.
The Pointers advance to the NCAA Tournament regional semifinals against host No. 2 Hope at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday (Nov. 17).
