OSHKOSH, Wis. – The No. 24 UW-Stevens Point volleyball team (5-1) swept Millikin (2-2) in straight sets on Friday at the M.V.P. Invitational.
 
Ashley Kopp (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) and Grace Michalske (Wausau, Wis./West) each recorded another double-double. Kopp had a match-high 13 kills with 10 digs. Michalske led all players with 29 assists and also had 10 digs.
 
Sydney Mosinski (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada) was also in double figures with 12 kills. Emma Peterson (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) led UWSP with 16 digs with Katie Albrecht (West Bend, Wis./East) adding 10 digs.
 
Mosinski had back-to-back kills for an early 5-3 advantage in the first set. She added three more kills as UWSP extended the lead to 14-9. Kelsie Belfiori (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) had consecutive aces last to give UWSP set point. Kopp finished off the set with her fourth kill.
 
The Pointers hit a game-high .283 in the second set and never trailed in the set. A late kill by Olivia Paukner (Prairie Du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) gave the Pointers a set-high eight-point lead at 22-14.
 
Kopp and Katie Larson (Hammond, Wis./St. Croix Central) had three early kills as UWSP gained a 5-3 lead. Mosinski added a pair of set-turning blocks as UWSP pushed ahead 21-17. Tied at 23-23, UWSP finished off the match with the final two points capped with a Paukner kill.
 
The Pointers host Saint Mary's and Concordia Moorhead on Saturday (Sept. 10) in the home opener. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
