Schultz Sets Saves Record as Pointers Fall in Semis

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point women's hockey goaltender Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) set the single-season saves mark as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (12-15-0) fell by a 5-0 score to No. 5 UW-Eau Claire (23-4-0) in the WIAC Tournament semifinal (presented by Culver's).

Schultz made 41 saves on Saturday giving her 771 for the season surpassing the single season mark previously held by Janna Beilke-Skoug in 2014-15 (746).

The Blugolds got two goals past Schultz in the first period, including the eventual game-winner just 51 seconds into the game.

UWEC added another in the second and secured the series win with two more in the third.

The Pointers fired 15 shots on UWEC goaltender Stephanie Martin to no avail. Maike Zipp (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac), Sara Aadalen (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata), Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury), Molly Millar (Anchorage, Alaska/East) and Katie Stanius (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) each had two to lead UWSP.

This season, the Pointers scored 85 goals, the most since the 2014-15 season. UWSP had 85 goals that season as well.
