STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Senior goaltender
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, Minn./Tartan) made a school-record 57 saves for the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (8-10-0, 2-3-0) in a 1-0 defeat to No. 4 UW-Eau Claire (15-2-0, 4-0-0) on Saturday.
Schultz made 21 saves in the first period as the teams skated to a 0-0 frame. She made 17 more in the second period before the Blugolds got one past her on the power play at the 18:31 mark.
In the third period, Schultz made 17 more saves as she kept UWSP within a goal until the end.
Dani Heitsman (Janesville, Wis./Rock County Fury) led UWSP with eight shots on goal.
Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, Minn./Orono) added five.
UWEC goaltender Stephanie Martin had 30 saves.
The Pointers and Blugolds continue the season series on Friday (Jan. 28) with a 7:00 p.m. game at Ice Hawks Arena.
